Young Poles / Euro 2012

Interesting to see young Poles featured in this week’s headlines about 1m+ 16-24 year olds now out of work.  ‘Twas the usual thing: East Europeans more prepared than the locals to apply for certain types of job.  The Poles are almost always well presented, well trained and speak good English.  I’m not sure representative of every Polish youth back in Poland, because it’s often a different type makes the effort to find work abroad.  But helps make a good impression on the host country and counter the lurid “they’re taking our jobs” headlines.  On a different note, exciting to see the Poland-Ukraine Euros 2012 taking shape: the draw for the groups next Friday.  If the seedings will allow, wouldn’t surprise if England and Poland ended up in the same group yet again, creating more rivalry chez Lipmans…
